The next installment of "A Clay on words..."

Our I-talian selection this evening is:

Rallentando

A directive to perform a certain passage of a composition with a gradual slowing of the tempo. The abbreviation is rall.

Not bad, but I heard someone used a Italian dictionary tonight to get the answer. I'll go one better tomorrow night and I'll have it with me -- but I'm not telling YOU what IT is. You'll have to wait until I come back from Hartford with my report. Anyway, here's my counter-offering for the evening:

Legato

A directive to perform a certain passage of a composition in a smooth, graceful, connected style, as opposed to staccato. It is often indicated by a slur over the effected notes or as an accent mark with a line over the notes to be performed in this manner.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night and I just discovered that we get table service (that means food and drink -- goodie!) before the show. So we'll be sitting at Table 2 in Row E right on the center aisle at 6:30pm with no need to get supper before we arrive. That, and the free parking, makes it worth the big $$$ we spent for these tickets.

Look for my concert review sometime on Wednesday -- I promise to be fair and unbiased...or at least fair... ;-)

Carry on!

J
